CostaLuz Lawyers is a small but enthusiastic and radically committed team of professionals under the direction of María de Castro. Our efforts are directed towards making Spain the best country for your investments, living abroad and holidays. It is a big dream but that´s what we are working towards and what we enjoy doing. We treat clients as we would like to be treated if we were in their situation and abroad. Although meeting all our clients’ expectations is a challenge, with each client we take on our goal is to help them obtain the best possible outcome for their situation.

María Luisa de Castro is the director of the Costa Luz Lawyers team.

I was born in 1973, am happily married and have two children: Teresa (10) and Jacobo (8).  I attended Law School at the University of Seville from 1990 to 1995 and did my doctoral courses in Public Law between 1995 and 1997.  Joined the Cadiz Bar association in 1998.

In the year 2000 I visited the United States for the first time, to work with David Coolidge in an interdisciplinary programme in Family Law in Washington DC . I am a member of the  Blackstone Fellowship and the Witherspoon Fellowship and a John Jay Institute Alumna in the US.  I enjoyed my time in  Washington until August 2001 when my dear Dave Coolidge, colleague, mentor and friend was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away.

Living in ths US for a while was a learning experience not just of of the language but also of  how you, a foreign person, can feel when moving, living, retiring abroad.

Back from the Estates, I worked for a while at De Castro, Law Firm which was founded by my father in 1988. This firm has great experience in all aspects of civil law, commercial law, administrative law, family law, maritime law, criminal law.... As litigation specialists, they are now used by my own legal firm, Costa Luz Lawyers, as the litigation team.  This allows me to devote 100% of my time to lead the team,  study the cases, set the legal strategies and interact with you on a daily basis.  I also write legal articles and information booklets for English speaking people like you in Spain .

Since 2006, I have been contributing to the internet forum Eye on Spain for which I also write a Blog.

My vission is now on the creation of your legal club in Spain

I was born in Cadiz, also called “La Tacita de Plata” (The Silver Teacup), 35 years ago but I have been living in Algeciras for 20 years where I  met my husband, Ignacio.
I am a mother of four wonderful children, who make my life messy and wonderful. I studied International Trade due to the proximity of this area to Morocco. As you are probably aware Algeciras has a great traffic of imports and exports and also its port is the most important commercial one in Europe. I worked for 3 years in the international trading area until I started to work with Maria. The truth is that I am very happy to be able to help people solve their problems.
My favourite hobbies are travelling and animals ;)

I was born in London in 1967.  I live in the UK and am father of two sons.  In 2006, I paid a deposit to reserve a Spanish Off-plan property.  I did not receive a Bank Guarantee and therefore when the developer abandoned the development my money was at serious risk. I came across a very important Spanish Law, LEY 57/1968. I gathered a small group known as the Finca Parcs Action Group, against the Bank. In September 2008 I made contact with María de Castro from Costa Luz Lawyers.  After 7 year fight, Finca Parcs Action Group won the case. As a result of my success and experience I am now employed by Costa Luz Lawyers on a part-time basis managing our UK office in Milton Keynes.
